Dutch Pavilion
The Netherlands were almost continuously represented at the Venice Biennale since its origin in 1895. In the beginning the Dutch exhibited in the general exhibition hall. In 1914 the Netherlands took over the Swedish pavilion, and used this until 1952. Two years later the Netherlands moved to a new national pavilion designed by Gerrit Rietveld. Up to this day this pavilion accommodates the Dutch entry.
Since 1995, the Mondriaan Foundation has been responsible for the Dutch entry at the Biennale di Venezia, appointing a curator for each entry.
